CAPACITORS

Itaca distributes a vast range of electrolytic capacitors manufactured by the Korean company Samwha, a worldwide leader in this sector.

This range includes:

MINIATURE CAPACITORS

These are small electrolytic capacitors with rheophore terminals. This family of units is becoming increasingly diffused due to the continuous demand for miniaturisation in the field of electronics. Miniature electrolytic capacitors offer better impedances with respect to larger electrolytic units; this is at the expense of the capacitive values, which are more limited. Samwha miniature electrolytic capacitors are also available in taped versions.

SNAP IN, LUG E SCREW TYPE CAPACITORS

These electrolytic capacitors are of a larger size and are categorized by the shapes of their terminals: Snap In, Lug and Screw Type. The Snap in units are normally utilized in power supplies. The Lug and Screw type units, on the other hand, are normally used in industrial machinery.

SURFACE-MOUNTED ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS (SMD ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS)

Surface-mounted electrolytic capacitors (SMD) are utilized in the high-density PCB cards of components. These are therefore essential elements in the ongoing process of electronic product miniaturisation.

POLYMER ALUMINUM CAPACITORS

Polymer aluminum capacitors are characterized by extremely low ESR values at higher frequencies; stable ESR and capacity with temperature variations. They are particularly indicated for high-frequency switching power supplies, computers and audio applications.

SUPERCAP (EDCL)

Supercaps or supercapacitors are components which are utilized as energy storage units. With respect to traditional rechargeable batteries, supercaps are capable of storing less energy. However, they have a much longer working life. What’s more, Supercaps can be charged (or discharged) in extremely short periods of time, guaranteeing high specific power. Thanks to their use in electric automobiles and hybrids, as well as new applications in the renewable energy sector, supercaps are becoming increasingly diffused. That’s why Samwha has named its own line of supercapacitors “Green Caps”.
